I'm a Maker Because...

Jason Hibbs interview

What inspires you to keep making things?

"The idea that there are still things out there that can be made for the very first time. Sure I might be making tables or hutches that's not new. But I am the first person to make that specific table or hutch and there is something very exciting about that. And who knows maybe through that process I'll create something no one has ever seen before."

What one piece of advice would you give to other makers?

"Just say yes. If you don't know how to do something just say yes. Once you have the job then go figure it out. If you turn down jobs because you don't how to do that particular thing then you will never learn how to do it. But if you say yes, you are putting yourself into a position of forced learning. Either you figure it out or you fail and as humans we don't like to fail so my guess is you'll figure it out."
