"There are two things that inspire me to keep making things. The first is the feeling of accomplishment when I come across a problem and fix it. Making and creating is a roller coaster of emotions. I come up with an idea that I think is cool, then think of a way to make it work and I am super excited. Once I start the project, I always come across unforeseen obstacles or I make mistakes and I start to think the project might not work out. The moment when I figure out how to solve the problem is one of the greatest feelings which pushes me to keep creating and trying new things.
My kids are the second thing that inspire me to keep making, especially my daughter. I want my daughter to grow up in a world where she really believes she can do anything. Woodworking is a predominantly male field, I hope my daughter (and other girls out there) can see what I am doing and realize there is nothing holding them back from doing what they love."
"One piece of advice I would give to budding makers is don't be afraid to fail. You will make mistakes and you will fail, it's how you deal with the mistakes that matter. You can get frustrated and give up, or you can learn from your mistakes and hopefully you won't make them again on future projects. The only way I learn is by actually doing; get out in the shop, do it yourself, fail, then learn from those mistakes and keep on building."
