Miniviews series - No. 8 with Travis Weaver
You’ve landed on the eighth installment of the Maker Miniviews series called “I’m a Maker Because…” The structure of this maker series is that Scott Mathson, Makerviews asks different makers two questions. That’s it, two questions. These text, maker interviews are quick and to-the-point, all while providing insight from a wide variety of truly talented individuals!
As makers, we all need to support each other in getting out there and making things. With that, brevity is key. That’s why I’ve taken a two-question approach in this series. Check out this interview with founder of Manready Mercantile, T.S. (Travis) Weaver.
I'm a Maker Because...
Travis Weaver interview
What inspires you to keep making things?
"I’m determined to show myself, and others, that you can come from nothing and make it these days. You just can’t give up and have to be ok with failing. Understanding that nothing would ever be given to me from an early age has made me the person I am and has embedded a never give up mentality. Every day is a new opportunity for me to make something incredible."
What one piece of advice would you give to other, budding makers?
"Do your own thing and don’t worry about what others are up to. It’ll drive you nuts and distract you from goals. It’s a hard thing to do with social media around everywhere these days, but I would stick to it. With that said, make sure others know your story and be the one that others are looking into."
Back in 2012, Travis Weaver was hand-making fine goods for Manready and under his T.S. Weaver & Co line’s name. Manready has evolved into being a retailer and purveyor of fine goods from a wide variety of other makers and brands.
