Drew Short interview

What inspires you to keep making things?

"Inspiration comes in many different forms. From the challenge of creating something beautiful from nothing, to creating a business to supporting what matters most, MY FAMILY! I think what drives me is figuring out how to challenge myself to attempt a new technique that achieves the same outcome. The cool thing about creating things, is you can put your own spin/personality on any project. A simple box can be made with miters, splines, dovetail keys, waterfall grain, just as a few examples.

Simply put, the challenge is my drive and inspiration!"

What one piece of advice would you give to other, budding woodworkers?

"I have used this advice to just about everyone that asks me this question. Always take the bad with the good!

IF you never experience the BAD, you will never GROW. IF you never grow, then you will never be CHALLENGED. IF you are never challenged, then you will never FAIL! IF you never fail, then you will never SUCCEED! The point is, imagination can bring something so simple and raise it up to a level of EXTRAORDINARY! ALWAYS challenge yourself to become more than what you have always been!

Talent is hidden beneath the surface, you just have to figure out how to plane away the FEAR to expose it!"

The Rock-n H name comes from his wife’s late grandfather’s ranch and farm brand. Drew inherited tools from him and is carrying on the legacy - really an amazing story! Be sure to check out his website and videos.
